Second Life News: Earworms Presents Language Learning in SL

September 30th, 2009  |  Published in Second Life News

Starting October 5th, the team of Hermes-PPMM will be holding in-world demonstrations of their new product, Earworms Language Learning.  Residents are invited to come over to the SLevolution sim at 2AM SLT and 7AM SLT where there will be a demonstration of Earworms – a product promising to bring ” a new way of language learning to Second Life.”

Join Earworms’ founders between October 5th and October 11th at 2AM SLT or 7AM SLT at the SLevolution sim (http://slurl.com/secondlife/SLevolution/129/126/22) for a demonstration of the Earworms language learning system. According to the systems developers:

“Earworms mbt puts the words and phrases you need not just on the tip of your tongue, but also transports them deep into your long-term memory. Simply by listening to these specially composed melodies with their rhythmic repetitions a few times, the sound patterns are indelibly burned into your auditory cortex.

The Earworms system is not only a revolutionary way to learn new languages; it’s also cross-reality. You can individually learn a language by playing the Second Life CD at your Second Life home and by downloading the MP3-files to your desktop computer, MP3-player, etc. At this moment, 10 languages are already available in Second Life; French, Spanish, Italian, German, Japanese, Chinese, Arabic, Russian, Portuguese and Greek.”

If you’re not online when the demonstrations are given, there’s a fully featured demonstration to be found on the SLevolution sim at http://slurl.com/secondlife/SLevolution/190/185/21.
